Program Remote to TV or Other Device

This article will help you program your DISH remote to control your TV or another device like a DVD player or audio system. This article is most helpful if you just got a new TV or other device, or if the volume button on your remote control isn't working.

See the instructions below for ViP-model receivers:

  1. With the remote pointing at the desired device, press and hold the mode button that you want to program, until all the mode buttons light up.
  2. Enter the three-digit remote control code. For these remotes we have the most popular and successful codes listed in our remote quick start guide starting on page 8.
    1. If you’ve chosen the AUX button, be sure to precede the three-digit code with 0 for a TV, 1 for a Blu-ray/DVD player, or 2 for any other device.
  3. Press the # button. The mode button you selected will flash three times.
  4. Press the POWER button on your DISH remote. If the code was successfully programmed, the device will turn off.
