The Hopper3 works fine with my old WD MyBook 2TB, USB2 EHD on any of the three USB ports...
1 USB2 and one USB3 port on rear panel and one USB3 port on front panel.
However, the Hopper3 will not yet work with a USB3 version of a WD MyBook, which is Dish spec compliant.
external power supply, single disk, and no more than 2TB.
I have been told that the engineers at Dish will eventually have the software updated to work with USB3 devices.
As it stands now, the Hopper3 does NOT recognize the existence of a USB3 EHD in order to apply the Dish proprietary format structure.
USB3 is approx 10 times faster than USB2 and file transfers take much less time using USB3 devices.
My new EHD is not malfunctioning, I used WD proprietary software to confirm its health and functionality......
it is solely a Dish issue which will not recognize the presence of a USB3 EHD in order to format it using Dish's propriety formatting structure.
I have tried formatting new EHD with both NTSF and FAT32 to "force" Hopper to recognize it.
