Where are you seeing this error message? Please provide more details. What were you attempting to do when the error message displayed? Please let me know. Thanks.

I was attempting to play a recoded Olympic segment. I received the error code when I pressed play. Thanks

How were you accessing the recorded event - from the DVR menu? What type receiver do you have? Thanks.

I was accessing the event from my hopper recorded events menu. The error 04 showed up when I tried to play the eventrecording.

Hi, I am sorry that you got an 04 error message on your recorded event. This message means that there was a file error which is caused when a DVR recording was interrupted by signal loss or power failure. I apologize but the recording is no longer available. you will need to delete this recording. Can you please PM us your account or phone number so we can notate your account that the error occurred. Thank you!

Mary B thank you for response. I understand the problem. My question is this happened again on last nites recording of the Olympics which for us is 8pm till 1am Pacific time. We go to play this morning and receive error code 04. Could this be Dish sending updates during this time period and interupting the recording causing error code 04? Thanks Lew4dtv1

This sounds disturbingly familiar. Just got a fairly upset call from my wife that she was trying to watch some of the Olympics recordings from last evening and was greeted with the "Error code 04" message.

All of our A/V equipment is on UPS', so the "power failure" excuse does not fly, and there was no significant weather events last night so I'm not buying the "signal loss" excuse either. Additionally, when we have experienced signal loss issues due to weather, etc... The unit has reported that during playback with a message similar to "partial loss of event due to signal loss", but has not just refused to play back the program at all.

Next random guess???

The error code 04 is a corrupt recording. You can try resetting the receiver by unplugging it for 15 seconds. If you continue to receive this error code on multiple recordings, the receiver most likely need to be replaced. If this problem is continuing, please send one of us a private message and we can get you details on a replacement.

This is happening to me as well. The prime time Olympic coverage on both Sat and Sun turned out black with the 04 error code. Once can be a glitch, twice makes me very unhappy. Missed the gymnastics!! Watching tonight live 'cause I can't trust the Hopper. :(
