Error Code 981: Boot Recovery

What's happening? A "Warning Error 981: Boot Recovery" message is displaying.

This problem is typically caused by an error during the software download.

This may take up to four hours.

Note: Interrupting this process before it has had time to finish may cause it to take longer to correct.

If this message has been on your screen longer than four hours, you can try resetting your DISH receiver. Unplug the power cord of your DISH receiver (typically has a red tag) from the electrical outlet for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.

If your receiver is connected to a surge protector, please plug the receiver directly into the wall outlet until the reset has been completed.

The reset process may take up to five minutes to complete.
