DISH wants you to understand your options to get great TV service.
Occasionally, rental properties or homeowner associations (HOAs) tell our customers they’re “not allowed” to have a satellite antenna. This is not always the case.
In fact, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) created the Over-the-Air Reception Devices (OTARD) Rule to protect your choice of TV providers.
In most instances, you are allowed to have a DISH antenna provided you meet the following criteria.
- The antenna is installed in an area that you have sole access to (such as a private balcony or deck)
- The antenna’s placement does not extend into any common areas (such as walkways or gardens)
If you feel that you meet these minimum requirements, or if you have questions regarding the OTARD Rule, contact the FCC at 888-CALL-FCC (225-5322) or visit https://www.fcc.gov/media/over-air-reception-devices-rule.
The FCC can determine whether or not your choice of TV providers is being unlawfully denied and help you resolve the issue.
