Most soundbars connect to a TV via an HDMI cable or optical cable. Many soundbars come with an optical cable. But, you'll most likely need to purchase an HDMI cable. We recommend connecting via an HDMI cable for the best sound quality.
If using an HDMI cable, attach it to the HDMI port on the back of your soundbar.
Next, locate the HDMI ports on your TV. They may be on the side or back, depending on your model. Choose the HDMI port on your TV labeled "ARC," if available. ARC stands for "audio return channel". It connects your TV, along with all of the other devices connected to your TV, such as an Xbox and Apple TV, to your soundbar using only one HDMI cable. Note that HDMI-CEC must be enabled on your TV to enjoy this feature. This is typically done in your TV's settings. Reference your TV manual for specifics.
If your TV doesn't have an "ARC" input, or if you're not using an HDMI cable, attach the optical cable to the optical port on the back of your soundbar. And to the optical port on your TV.
Make sure that your DISH receiver is still connected to your TV. Position your soundbar where desired. And then plug it in.
Turn on your TV. Press the Home button twice on your remote. Select "Settings." Then "Remote Control."
Choose "Auxiliary Device." Then "Audio Accessory." Select the pairing wizard. Follow the onscreen instructions to choose your soundbar brand and complete the setup. Once done, select "Finished." This will take you back to "Remote Settings."
On this page, ensure "Control Auxiliary Devices' Volume" is selected for "Volume & Mute Buttons." This will allow your remote to control your soundbar when you press these buttons.
Press and hold the Back button on your remote to get to live TV.
