App crashed or froze (black screen)

Seeing a black screen, or is DISH Anywhere freezing or closing on its own? This usually happens when the app hits an error or your internet is too slow to stream. Try these steps.

1. Make sure you're using a supported device

Check the DISH Anywhere device requirements to make sure your device is supported.

On a phone or tablet, you'll need the app because the website doesn't work on iPhone, iPad, or Android devices. Learn how to download the DISH Anywhere app.

On a computer, go to dishanywhere.com in your web browser.

2. Check your internet connection

Make sure your device is connected to the internet or cellular data.

3. Close and reopen the app

On a phone, tablet, or TV, fully close DISH Anywhere so it isn't running in the background, then open it again.

On a computer, refresh the page in your browser.

4. Try another show

Pick a different show or recording to see if it has the same issue. If it does, go to the next step.

5. Update the DISH Anywhere app

On a phone or tablet, open the App Store or Google Play and search for DISH Anywhere. If you see Update, tap it.

On Fire TV or Android TV, open the DISH Anywhere app and wait 30 seconds. If you don't see an update option, your app is up to date.

On a computer, you don't need to update anything.

6. Sign out and sign back in

Sign out of DISH Anywhere, then sign back in with your mydish.com sign-in info.

7. Restart your device

Turn off your phone, tablet, computer, or TV device, then turn it back on. This can take up to 5 minutes.
