Replacement TV Setup

Are you setting up a new TV in a different room than your DISH receiver? Try these steps to connect your equipment and program your remote.

TV and receiver are in the same room

1. Is there a DISH picture on the TV screen?

If you connected your new TV and have a DISH picture, your final step is to program the remote. If there isn't a DISH picture yet, continue with the steps below.

2. Is there a manufacturer picture on the TV screen?

If your TV is displaying a manufacturer setup screen, follow the TV's instructions to complete setup. If you are unable to complete the setup, contact your TV manufacturer.

3. Connect receiver to TV wiring

Connect your video cables to the back of the TV and ensure they are connected tightly to the receiver. If using component cables, also connect the audio cables (the red and white RCA cables).

4. Power on your TV and equipment

If the screen is black, make sure your TV is powered on. Power on any connected audio receivers or other devices.

5. Check the green light on your DISH receiver

If there is no green light on the front of your DISH receiver, press the power button. If the light blinks or won't come on, troubleshoot the receiver's power.

6. Press the SAT button

On your DISH remote, press the SAT button.

7. Change your TV input

On your TV manufacturer's remote or the TV itself, locate the Input or Source button. Press it repeatedly, pausing two seconds between presses, until you see a DISH picture.

8. Program your DISH remote

Once you have a DISH picture, program the remote. If there is no picture, continue to the next step.

9. Contact us

Contact your TV manufacturer for help setting up your new TV. If you have already contacted the manufacturer and the steps above didn't resolve your issue, give us a call at 800-333-3474, or chat with an expert agent online.
